Salmon – brown trout – sea trout – Arctic char

There are a number of secluded mountain lochs which provide a variety of fishing opportunities. Loch Shin is a large oligotrophic loch with a good head of hard fighting trout,occasional salmon and Arctic char. Boats are available. The Estate is located within 15 minutes of the 4 Kyle of Sutherland rivers and excellent salmon fishing can be arranged by request. By arrangement all equipment can be supplied and tuition provided.

Shin Falls – a well known salmon leap

Dunrobin Castle – Home of the Clan Sutherland, Dunrobin is the largest house in the North of Scotland with an outstanding formal garden, Falconry, gift shop and museum.


The estate offers stalking in remarkable scenery. During the season there is Red Deer and Sika available.


Aurora Borealis – There is a possibility to view the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights at Sallachy Estate. They are nature`s own gigantic light show.
Beaches – There are a number of stunning and world class beaches within a short time travelling time from Sallachy Estate.


Hiking And Walking

The 10,500 hectares of Sallachy Estate provide a wonderful area for walking and bird watching. Nearby there are forest trails. Maps and brochures are available at the lodge and cottage describing walks on the estate and surrounding areas.

Ancient Monuments Sallachy Broch. The broch is an Iron Age dwelling 2-3000 years old which can be reached after a short walk from the Lodge.

Highland Games – there is a full program of Highland Games across the North of Scotland throughout the summer season.
